John Elliott is the author of twenty-seven published works, and a writer for the Chicken Soup for the Soul series of best-selling books. He also writes articles for a number of on-line concerns, and previously wrote book reviews and conducted editorial work for the National Audubon Society's and the Smithsonian Institute’s Northeastern Naturalist and Southeastern Naturalist through the Humboldt Institute of Maine. He is also a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. Hollywood is also in the process of creating a full-length motion picture based on his prior best-selling autobiography, The August Assassin, and the British Broadcasting Corporation in the United Kingdom is creating a television situation comedy series based on the book about the his father, entitled Life According to Dad. He was an on-air contributor for the BBC's Sunday Morning Live shows in London, England, and in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and a commentator for Radio Zabok in Croatia.
He is a retired forty-four year law enforcement veteran, having worked for various police agencies in the United States, as well as for Interpol in Lyon, France, and conducted joint investigations with Europol. For many of those years he worked concurrently on a contractual basis for the Special Operations Group of the Central Intelligence Agency, as well as for the
Israeli spy agency Mossad. Fluent in English, Gaelic, Hebrew and Hungarian, he can also converse in both French and Italian. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business, an MBA, and a Juris Doctorate law degree.
As a public and motivational speaker, he conducts safety seminars nationwide. He is also an outspoken advocate for America's law enforcement officers and military personnel, and has trained countless police recruits in the United States and abroad.
